About Wild Rivers Electric
Wild Rivers Electric is a locally owned electrical contracting company based in Humboldt County, proudly serving residential and commercial customers throughout Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity Counties. Our name pays homage to the rugged natural environment we call home and the wild and scenic rivers of California's North Coast.
We believe in practical, sustainable energy solutions that help our customers reduce energy costs while improving reliability and resiliency. Founded by Nick Hawthorne, Wild Rivers Electric was built around a simple idea: provide high-quality electrical and energy solutions with honest communication, clean workmanship, and long-term customer support.
We handle everything in-house, including sales, design, permitting, installation, and maintenance. We do not use commissioned sales teams.
Meet Nick Hawthorne
As a licensed electrical contractor, Nick specializes in solar energy systems, battery backup, Tesla Powerwall installations, EV chargers, generators, service upgrades, and custom electrical work. Unlike many large solar companies, Wild Rivers Electric manages projects from start to finish with an in-house team and a strong focus on quality workmanship and customer experience.
Nick is a lifelong North Coast resident who grew up in Del Norte County. He earned a B.S. from University of California, Santa Cruz and later completed graduate-level work at Cal Poly Humboldt. Although originally trained as a scientist, Nick returned to his roots in the trades, attending College of the Redwoods' electrical wiring program and completing an apprenticeship with a local electrician.
Nick lives in McKinleyville with his wife Jen, son Max, and daughter Nola. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, paragliding, and kayaking the incredible rivers of Northern California.
